The Natural Language Processing & Machine Learning (NLP&ML) research group is a part of the Department of Computer Science, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, Pakistan. It was formed by a combined effort from faculty members and graduate students in February, 2014.

We, at NLP&ML, are interested to work on machine learning models that allow computers to process and understand human languages. Our mission is to develop innovative and robust natural language processing technologies that improve machine understanding of human languages. Our group members are widely recognized as being among the best in the field, winning prestigious research fellowships. Moreover, our work has been featured in numerous international conferences and journals.

Our research interests fall into the broad areas of:

• Author Identification and Author Profiling
• Information Retrieval
• Sentiment Analysis
• Word Sense Disambiguation
• Information Extraction
• Language Resources for Pakistani languages

The NLP&ML group has close associations with the UCREL at Lancaster University and NLP at The University of Sheffield research groups which carry out research in similar areas of computational processing of human languages.
